I bought this to upgrade the chimney cap on a Kamado Joe Jr. from the stock "daisy wheel" to the KJ Kontrol Tower. This does not work.
I ended up using 1.5"od silicone hose as an oring. I had two sections, sliced one section to split the hose, cut off about 1/4" strip, oiled both hoses, rolled the sliced hose tight and inserted into the other. This was reinforcement and acts as a coupler. The Joe Jr. now has the same cap as her big sisters. It's a tight fit and does not come off easily. No smoke bypasses when shut down.
